Introduction ABOUT IPM

What is Integrated Pest Management (IPM)

Integrated pest management (IPM) is the combination between the use of biological, cultural, and chemical measures to control insect pests in agricultural production.
IPM method seeks to use natural predators or parasites to control pests, using selective biological pesticides for backup only when pests are unable to be controlled by natural means.
IPM should not be confused with organic practices, it only minimizes the use of pesticides on crops. To ensure the quality and yield of crops, IPM promotes fertilizers only when the crop needs it, which means that less pesticide is used.

Using natural predators to pest control in IPM

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) using natural enemies to prevent harmful pests. The arthropods provide natural pest control by feeding on pest insects, including aphids, thrips, caterpillars, and beetles that damage crops and other plants. It is geared for field and greenhouse crops, it is also appropriate for use in other crops, and by gardeners and by homeowners.
